Please note: Nearly all of our volunteer spots are filled for 2025. If you are interested in volunteering, you are encouraged to fill out an application to be placed on the waiting list. We recommend that you not wait to see if a volunteer assignment will become available, but register for camp to secure your spot. If you are offered a volunteer assignment after you've registered we can refund you the difference of the volunteer discount.
Glimmer Camp is a volunteer produced event, co-created by our entire camp volunteer team. Do you have an interest, talent, or skill that would lend itself to camp programming? Do you have experience leading activities you think will be awesome at Glimmer Camp? Do you want to assist in ensuring camp operations run smoothly? Do you want to be able to register early and receive a discount?
Join the camp team as Activity or Operations Volunteer!
How does it work?
Review the information below including guidelines and policies.
Fill out an Activity Leader Interest Form and/or Operations Volunteer Application/Waiting List.
If your proposed activity fits in to what we already have planned, or if you have applied for an open operations role, we will contact you via email within a week to schedule an interview. We will not contact folks that have applied for activities or operations that we don't currently have a need for- but you will be put on a waiting list and we will contact you if/when there is an opening.
Complete an informal interview with a member of the leadership team. We vet volunteers to support alignment of skills/experience/interest and camp vision.
If the interview results in the offer of a volunteer assignment, you will sign a volunteer agreement and be sent a discount code. Then register for camp and redeem the discount code.
What is the commitment for camp volunteers?
Camp volunteers are expected to attend and participate in orientation at 1230 on the first day of camp and fulfill their assigned shifts. Glimmer Camp is an all volunteer produced event so it is extremely important that if you sign up to volunteer, you fulfill your commitment.
Camp volunteers receive a registration discount through volunteer/trade as follows:
3 volunteer hours = 20% off registration
6 volunteer hours = 40% off registration
9 volunteer hours = 60% off registration
12 volunteer hours = 80% off registration
Volunteer discounts are determined according to the assigned volunteer shifts and does not include prep time, attending volunteer orientation or anything else outside of the assigned shifts. Please note that most volunteers are scheduled for 3 or 6 hours of volunteerism.
Please note that activity slots (other than lifeguards) are full and we are not actively recruiting for more leaders. This form is serving as a waiting list. Due to the high volume of applicants we will not contact everyone. We will contact folks if a spot becomes available for the proposed activity.
We are actively recruiting lifeguards.
We are looking for people to lead both traditional and nontraditional activities during camp. We are especially interested in activities that resonate with folks who are systemically excluded from summer camp experiences.

We resist cultural appropriation. Please be mindful of whether your activity idea originates from a culture/community that is marginalized in US dominant culture and is not your own. The following reflection questions may help you determine if it's an appropriate activity to lead in this space.
Was I gifted this practice by a member of the culture/community of origin with the anticipation that I would share it with others?
If this practice has been largely appropriated by US dominant culture (eg. yoga), is there a way I can lead it from a decolonized perspective?
Prep-time is not built into activity shifts. Preparation such as demos or samples, or significant space set-up will need to take place outside of assigned volunteer shift.
Necessary consumable supplies will be provided by camp.
Consumable materials- those which are intended to be used up in the course of the activity- will be provided. In order to keep the price of camp down we do not have an extravagant budget for activity supplies- keep this in mind for your application.
In most circumstances, camp will not provide durable equipment. Durable equipment are items that are intended to be used in multiple instances over a duration of time. Examples of durable equipment are; looms, binoculars, board games, etc.
You may choose to bring your own durable equipment to lead an activity.
If you choose to bring your own equipment for use during your session, neither Glimmer Camp nor Camp Cleawox are responsible for any theft, damage, or loss to your personal equipment nor injury caused by your personal equipment.
Personal equipment may not be brought for the following activities: archery, swimming, boating.
The following equipment/materials are prohibited on camp property: fire arms, fire works, confetti, any fire outside of campfire circle.
