Pay It Forward

The Pay It Forward program is for folks who are not able to attend Glimmer Camp without financial assistance

Folks can apply for a 1/2 of 2/3 discount off of camp registration. If you'd like to apply for a Pay It Forward discount, please read this page in its entirety. 

For this inaugural year of Glimmer Camp we do not have sliding scale pricing nor a more robust scholarship system in place. It is a priority for future to incorporate more tools for economic justice.

The full registration price of camp, $495, reflects the actual cost of camp based on a fee model that offers discounts to the volunteers running camp. The Pay It Forward discounts are funded through community member contributions and fundraisers. Anyone who would like to attend Glimmer Camp, but cannot without financial support, is encouraged to fill out an application. We do not ask applicants to demonstrate their need because we endeavor to lean more towards mutual aid than charity. And, we ask you to be mindful that if you received a Pay It Forward discount when you can truly afford the full registration fee you are limiting access to those how need the gift of financial support. 

We offer the following categories as a guide to help determine which level of payment or discount is appropriate for you. 

Full camp registration is for those who:

• Are comfortably able to meet all of you basic needs

• Are able to repay your student loans, are in repayment or have paid off your student loans

• Own your own home or property OR rent a higher-end property

• Have daily reliable transportation 

• Have employer health insurance and/or other employer benefits

• Are able to miss work for sickness or leisure and are still able to pay next month's bills

• Travel when needed especially for an unexpected occasion like a family funeral or emergency

1/3 discount is for those who: 

• Have some debt but it does not prohibit attainment of basic needs

• Are supporting children or have other dependents

• Have access to health care

• Have access to some financial savings

• Have some expendable income

• Are able to take a vacation annually or every few years without financial burden

2/3 discount is for those who: 

• Have significant debt

• Rent lower-end properties or have unstable housing

• Do not have a car and/or have limited access to a car but cannot always afford gas

• Are eligible for public assistance. 

• Have no access to savings

• Are an elder with limited financial support

• Are an unpaid community organizer

• Experience discrimination in hiring or pay level

• Are descended from enslaved people and/or are Indigenous North American
